In spite of Richard Branson’s and Warren Buffett’s distinct focus on the value of their reputation, I would say that leaders overall are as unaware of their reputation as the rest of us.
Research from Weber Shandwick shows that up to 60% of a company’s market value is tied to its reputation and half of that represents the reputation of the top executives. A majority of investors also say that they base their decisions on the reputation of the CEO and the expectations that it carries.
There is no other single strategy with the same impact on the economy as working with reputation.
